The IPHCC is proud to announce the onboarding of our newest partner: The Canadian Center for Accreditation (CCA). The IPHCC has come together with the CCA to form an alliance to redefine how Indigenous health is received and provided throughout Ontario. The shared interest lies within improving the quality and accessibility for Indigenous Peoples across Ontario.
This Partnership marks a significant step forward in addressing systemic health disparities by integrating culturally safer accreditation practices into Indigenous primary care settings. By doing this, the IPHCC and CCA commit to provide enhanced health care services that cater to Indigenous Peoples and their values.
“Our vision and mission are to ensure Indigenous Peoples in Ontario are relieved from the disadvantaged health experiences by providing a culturally safer and wholistic way of healing and receiving services that are rooted in our traditional teachings,” said Caroline Lidstone-Jones, CEO of the IPHCC. “By establishing a new Partnership with the CCA, this allows us to dive into accreditation pathways that will be specifically tailored to the needs of the Indigenous Peoples while fostering an equitable future for all.”
Committed to Indigenous-Led Health Solutions
The CCA is an independent non-profit organization that offers tailored accreditation to community-based health and social services across Canada. The commitment lies in advancing Indigenous health by applying an Indigenous specific human rights-based approach to Indigenous health initiatives whilst embodying Indigenous voices within its decision-making framework.
Toward an Inclusive and Equitable Future
The IPHCC and the CCA will work collaboratively to co-create and implement processes that will result in equitable, inclusive, and culturally safer health care experiences for Indigenous Peoples in Ontario. It is important to note that this partnership supports the Calls to Action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commision of Canada but also sets a precedent for how accreditation bodies and Indigenous health organizations can work together to transform care delivery in meaningful and lasting ways.
